Franklin County Latino Heritage Festival

When: 4th Saturday in October

Saturday, October 26, 2024

Honoring one’s ancestors and lineage will serve as this year’s theme. In Mexican culture, this remembrance is traditionally called “Dia de los Muertos.”

A collaborative endeavor thanks to community, business, and religious leaders, this annual festival will showcase the diverse Latin cultures present in out local community.
Not only will this event expose festival goers to the diversity within the Latino community, it will also promote cultural unity and foster positive relationships.
This all day, family-focused interactive event will feature live entertainment, dancing competitions, hands-on children’s activity tents, a street soccer match, a vintage car show, and a closing parade. Of course, we will host food trucks and vendors too.

Spruce Pine Day

When: 3rd Saturday in October

Saturday, October 19, 2024

Spruce Pine Day began in 1999 when the local grocer and post master made chicken stew and invited the community. The tradition of togetherness continues with fun for kids along with music and vendors. While there, visit the Spruce Pine Museum for a history lesson.

Spirit of Hodges Festival

When: 2nd Saturday in October

Saturday, October 12, 2024

The name “The Spirit of Hodges Festival” takes on special meaning and reflects the town’s history. The Spirit of Hodges was a P-51 Mustang fighter aircraft used in World War II. The plane was named for the town after an auction in which residents of Hodges raised more than $47,000 in war bonds in 1943. The annual event includes an all day line-up of bands, pony rides, fish fry and chicken supper, crafts, miniature train rides, and vendors of all kinds.
